Preeti is owner and founder of event planning company Preeti Exclusive Creations and has been nominated for numerous awards. We talked to Preeti regarding her successful journey as an event and wedding planner.

1. Please tell us about your business and journey till now.

Preeti Exclusive Creations is a boutique event planning, coordination & design company, also specializing in Interactive Party Favors & FlipBooks. As a Design Specialist and a Certified Wedding & Event Planner, I founded the company in 2004. In 2009, Preeti Exclusive Creations was nominated for 2 coveted International Special Events Society (ISES) Big Apple Awards as well as being recognized by the WeddingChannel.com for producing an event that made their Top 13 Weddings of the Year. My company has been featured in numerous magazines, radio interviews, vendor blogs & podcasts.

I did my undergrad in Communications & my grad in Sociolgy at St. John’s University in Jamacia, Queens, NY. Event planning wasn’t exactly the first thing I thought of as I just sort of fell into it. As the years went on, however, I realized how much my schooling and background helped me in my career choice. I started my business in 2004 as a partially planning, mostly décor company. It wasn’t as modern as it is now. I started with very traditional mandaps where I tried to put my own “modern” spin on them. I had been working with someone 2 years prior to that in another state, in which I was strictly décor. After moving to NY, I moved more from the décor to planning & design. The initial years were tough. There was a long period of research & development as I needed to understand my new market, target audience & new vendors in a new state. Some events were more challenging than others and some needed to be approached as a “marketing effort”. Although every event I do, I do with pride & with my heart, but initially, it was about getting my name out, creating a brand & just doing what I needed to get the next client while making the present client happy. If that meant bringing additional florals to an event, I did without caring about the loss too much because it was something I needed to create for my own portfolio. I remember long days & even longer nights. I remember grateful brides & I remember the support system I had with me from beginning to end. That made the tough years completely bearable as they wouldn’t let me give up.

2. What made you fall in love with this profession?

Started off as a crush turned into a love affair with full blown passion for all things event related. I am passionate about the end result…about seeing everything come to light that took months to plan. The pageantry, the colors, the intense time crunch, the pressure, the stress; it’s all things you grow to love. Is this going to look as amazing as it did in my head? Is the theme going to play out the same way to the guests as it did to the couple? I am passionate about achieving those results. They say the most important moments in a young adult’s life are three things: The day you get married, the day you buy your first home & the day you have your first child. None have to be in any particular order, but that makes me a memorable person in someone’s life…

Preeti Exclusive Creations offers a full service package which consists of finding your venue, designing your invitations & mailing them out. We even track the RSVP’s at the office & assist with table place cards. In this package, we also negotiate & secure your vendors, implement a theme design & keep you in your budget. The partial package is for those that have already booked the major vendors such as venue, caterer & possibly decorator but need a little assistance throughout the way. The day of package is for those that did all of the planning themselves but need someone to execute the event from the month to the day of. All services above come with me as the day of coordinator. We are there to ensure everything you have contracted is secure as well as everything staying on time. Another service is the consultation package where the couples get some helpful advice, recommendations & timeline help, but may not have the budget for someone to be onsite.

The impact of the TV daily soap actors or actresses has been more than that of Bollywood heroines. The demure bahus like Pavitra Rishta fame Archana (Ankita Lokhande) present the two sides of the coin. One is the on screen avatar in simple sarees and the other one is the dazzling persona at colours award function in a beautiful black saree with red border.

Archna (Ankita Lokhande) has become somewhat of a fashion icon in the last two and a half years. This was an event of Awards function where Ankita wore a black net saree with a full-sleeved blouse with a deep back. The saree is made of georgette material and has beautiful patch red border.
